Crossroads Welcome Center

Tom and I recently stopped at the Crossroads Welcome Center in Poncha Springs, Colorado. It’s at the intersection of Highway 50 and Highway 285 and is relatively new. The main rest area has been open the last few times we stopped but part of the property was still under construction. Now, as far as we can tell, it appears to be finished. It’s a very nice facility, for anyone passing through and in need of a rest stop.

Parking

The grounds include several parking lots to accommodate cars and RVs of any size.

Restrooms

The restrooms are located in a nice building that also functions as a tourist information center. According to the website the welcome center is staffed by volunteers. It hasn’t been staffed when we’ve passed through but the restrooms are accessible from separate entrances outside the main entrance. Visitor guides and other magazines are also available outside the main entrance.

Educational Signs

Several signs on the site provide information about local wildlife, history, and the beautiful mountain range that is visible from there.

Picnic Facilities

Picnic tables are located at various places throughout the site.

Dog Park

The last time we stopped here we were pleasantly surprised to discover the addition of a dog park… Barks & Recreation!

War Memorial

A war memorial pays tribute to local military veterans. It includes memorial stones for both the Korean and Vietnam wars.

Dump Station

A dump station is available 24/7 by charing the $10 dump fee to a credit card. Non-potable water is available for cleaning at the dump station and if you drive up to the building past the dump station, you can fill fresh water tanks with potable water.
