Cannon Beach, Oregon or Bust Day 11

On Day 11 of our RV trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon, Tom and I camped at Apgar Campground in Glacier National Park with our friends, Dennis and Wendy.

Apgar Campground

Apgar Campground is conveniently located near the west entrance of Glacier National Park. Its proximity to Lake McDonald and Apgar Village and its ability to accommodate RVs makes Apgar Campground one of the most popular campgrounds in the park. Reservations are required during spring, summer and fall seasons and campsites fill up quickly. Group campsites can be booked as far as 12 months in advance and individual sites up to 6 months in advance.

Since Tom and I never plan ahead, we assumed we'd never actually camp in Glacier National Park. However, Dennis and Wendy's daughter, Val, consistently checked the reservation website for openings and managed to book us group sites for several nights at Apgar Campground. Unfortunately, each night was in a different site so we had to move our camp each day. It was a little inconvenient but worth it for easy access to the many activities that are accessible from the Apgar area.

Tom and I rode our bikes along the beautiful bike path from Apgar Campground across the Middle Fork of the Flathead River to West Glacier, just outside the park entrance. We enjoyed daily views of Lake McDonald as well as shopping and people-watching in Apgar Village. One little toddler was fascinated with Dennis and Wendy's dog, Lily. He just couldn't stop smiling.

We all welcomed Val when she joined us at our group site on our second night in the park. Aly was especially excited to meet Val and became convinced she's a lapdog, like Lily.
