Cannon Beach, Oregon or Bust Day 21

On Day 21 of our RV trip to Cannon Beach, Oregon, Tom and I drove a short distance from Salem to Amity, Oregon to visit friends and explore Oregon Wine Country.

Sights along the way

While the first snow of the season was falling on Pikes Peak, near our home in Colorado, it was clearly autumn in the Oregon Wine Country. Trees were changing from green to gold, orange and red. And, the cornstalks were growing tall. Grapes and other fruits and vegetables were being harvested from both commercial and residential fields and gardens. It was the perfect time to visit this beautiful agricultural region.

During our visit to Oregon Wine Country, Tom and I had the pleasure of visiting one of my old friends and colleagues, Tom and his wife Lisa. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at their beautiful home which included fresh tomatoes from their garden. I've never seen such big tomatoes... and so many! While we were visiting with ducks and chickens, Aly enjoyed running around their big yard (inaccessible to the big yummy birds) with their dog.

After our visit with Tom and Lisa, we headed to the Kristin Hill Winery to boondock for the night.

we were immediately greeted by the vineyard guardian, Tuffy. He's a 6-month-old great pyrenees that's already 20 pounds heavier than Aly and still a long way to grow. Tuffy kept watch over our camper until he realized Aly couldn't come out to play yet. He entertained us in the tasting room then joined us in a field near the vineyard to wrestle with Aly. We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Oregon Wine Country.
