On Day 1 of our RV trip to Des Moines, Iowa, we drove from Woodland Park, Colorado to Cheyenne, Wyoming. We could have gone farther but we wanted to visit one of my oldest and best friends in Cheyenne.
Sights along the way
Soon after leaving Woodland Park, we passed the very small town of Bust, Colorado. It's located near the base of Pikes Peak and I couldn't resist taking a picture after my previous Pikes Peak or Bust post.
We passed the United States Olympic and Paralympic Museum as we drove through Colorado Springs. And, as we passed Denver, we were happy that our side of the highway was flowing smoothly, unlike the southbound side.
Exploring Cheyenne, Wyoming
We crossed the Wyoming border and reached the capitol of Cheyenne just in time to meet our friend, Linda, for lunch at Tres Amigos. We usually try to visit Linda during Cheyenne Frontier Days. Unfortunately, on this trip, we missed CFD by just a few days. On the bright side, Tom and I enjoyed exploring and shopping in downtown Cheyenne with very few other visitors.
After an evening of visiting and boondocking at Linda's Cheyenne home, we woke to a beautiful Wyoming sunrise and hit the road again.
