Des Moines or Bust Day 6

On Day 6 of our RV trip to Des Moines, Iowa, it rained most of the day so Tom and I focused on driving. We made it from Oacoma, South Dakota to Sioux City, Iowa with a little detour to Vermillion.

Sights along the way

Minutes after leaving our boondocking site in Oacoma, we crossed the massive Missouri River. At this point the Missouri River runs down the middle of South Dakota. As it flows southeast toward the state line, the Missouri River defines the border between South Dakota and Nebraska.

Eastern South Dakota looks similar to Western South Dakota. The rolling hills are covered with cornfields that seemed to appreciate the fresh rain.

As we headed south toward Sioux City, we got a break from the rain and decided to use the opportunity to run a few errands. That's about the same time we started craving Dairy Queen. So, we took a little detour off the highway to the nearest DQ, which was in Vermillion. After filling our stomachs, we filled our propane tank, and fresh water tank. We even stumbled across a truck wash that was tall enough for our rig. Ahhhh we needed that!

We still needed a few supplies so we decided to shop and boondock at the Sioux City, Walmart. We have a big cornfield outside our window. Not bad for a Walmart parking lot!
