South Padre Island, Texas or Bust Day 10

On Day 10 of our RV trip to Texas, Tom and I enjoyed another beautiful day on South Padre Island.

Highlights

Soon after sunrise we drove to Beach Access 4 so we could let Aly run off some energy. She had a great time playing ball and running along the beach with the other high-energy dogs whose humans had the same idea. After 30 minutes of intense play, Aly was done for the day!

After dropping Aly off at our camper for her well earned nap, Tom and I rode our bikes to visit some of the shops near the center of town. We returned to our RV at the south end of town to eat lunch then headed out on our bikes again, this time with our friends. Together we rode more than 5 miles to Clayton's Beach Bar at the north end of town. We caught up with more friends on the way and joined our fellow Colorado Winter Texans on the deck at Clayton's. It was a perfect afternoon with live music from the Rob Garcia band. We danced and enjoyed a few drinks. And, we quickly learned why most of the people on the packed deck were drinking Busch Light. Cans of Busch Light were only $1 compared to the significantly overpriced (but yummy) pina coladas Tom and I bought at $15 each.

We returned to our RV site in Isla Blanca County Park just in time to watch sunset from the boat ramp.

Challenges

Our biggest challenge was drinking Busch Light but our more experienced friends enlightened us on a trick for maximizing our $1 investment... squeeze fresh lime juice into the can then sprinkle in some Tajin. It wasn't nearly as tasty as the pina colada, but awhile lot more affordable!
