On Day 13 of our RV trip to South Padre Island, Texas, we stayed on the island and enjoyed the beautiful weather from sunrise to sunset.
Highlights
Our day started on Isla Blanca Beach to watch the sunrise as Aly burnt off some morning energy with a new furry friend. Then I played pickleball for my first time on this trip. I play at the courts in Isla Blanca Park, just a few minutes walk from our campsite. The courts are pretty cracked and the wind is almost always blowing so it's hard to take any game seriously. That's what I love about playing here. It's just fun! Oh, and great exercise... which is how we justify our afternoon barhopping!
We rode our bikes with friends, Dennis and Wendy, to the lagoon side of the island near the Holiday Sand Sculpture Village. After a drink and live music at Tequila Sunset, we moved on to Louie's Backyard for more drinks, live music, dancing and a beautiful sunset. Tim Hadler paid tribute to Toby Keith and also played enough George Strait to get Tom dancing. Wendy and I took a quick break from dancing to visit the beautiful sand sculptures, just across the street. Then, when we got enough dancing, if there is such a thing, we biked "home" to our campsite.
Challenges
Our biggest challenge of the day was deciding which of the many bars and bands to choose. They're all great!
