On Day 15 of our RV trip to South Padre Island, Texas, we enjoyed another beautiful day of fun in the sun.
Highlights
We started our day with a heavenly sunrise on the beach. Dolphins swam back and forth near the shore as Aly raced back and forth chasing her ball. Tom and I were so excited to finally see Aly playing Fetch instead of Keep Away! After the beach I played pickleball and Tom worked out at the gym.
I had a quick lunch and a short rest in the camper, then I joined a group of friends to bike the Sea Turtle Art Trail. We had a great time visiting all the turtles along the 11 mile ride. We stopped to enjoy the extra large SPI beach chairs at the convention center, then a drink and live music at Clayton's Beach Bar. Upon returning to the SPI Visitor Center with proof of our turtle adventure, we picked up our free Sea Turtle Art Trail t-shirts.
When I returned from my afternoon adventure, Aly was rested up and ready for another run on the beach. There, she met her match with a German Shorthaired Pointer. After 30 minutes of racing up and down the beach Aly's little hiney was dragging in a big way. She and I were both done for the day.
While I was biking and beaching, Tom was fishing on the jetty near our campsite.
Challenges
Tom's fishing adventure won the daily challenge. It was a last minute decision for him and our campsite neighbor to take their fishing rods and live shrimp out to the jetty. All was going great, according to Tom's fish tales, until Tom's new friend, Ken, tried to help Tom wrestle a fish over the rocks. The rocks on the jetty can jet slimy and slick. Ken slipped and got scraped up but will live to fish another day.
