South Padre Island, Texas or Bust Day 16

On Day 16 of our RV trip to South Padre Island, Texas, we enjoyed yet another beautiful day of fun in the sun.

Highlights

No surprise that I started my day by taking Aly to the beach. Tom started his day a bit earlier, fishing on the jetty. After our morning visit to the beach, I played pickleball then hurried to the 10:30 Beach Bodies workout. By noon I was back on the beach with Aly. I made the mistake of thinking I could relax in the sun for a while with her laying next to me. But, Aly was too hot and immediately started to dig herself a cool hole in the sand. Before I knew it, everything I had with me, including myself, was covered in sand. And Aly was still not satisfied with her hole. Lesson learned... Don't take Aly sunbathing on the beach.

Back at camp, I hosed off as much sand as possible with our outside faucet then finished cleaning up in the shower. We had places to go and people to see... after eating a quick lunch, that is.

Happy to be clean and wanting to stay the way, Tom and I decided to drive, instead of ride bikes, to Clayton's Beach Bar at the north end of town. We met up with friends there to listen to live music on the deck. The $1 Busch Lights were flying off the shelves and many of the empty cans found themselves stacked in a pyramid on competing tables. Winter in SPI is like Spring Break for retirees. A different demographic but the same shenanigans. Wait! Did I just say shenanigans? I am turning into my mother!

On our way back from Clayton's Beach Bar, we couldn't resist a stop at Longboards to check out their live music and grab a snack... and a drink.

Challenges

Getting all the sand out of my hair, clothes, phone, towel... Thanks Aly!
