South Padre Island, Texas or Bust Days 26 - 29

Days 26 - 29 of our RV trip to South Padre Island, Texas, brought some good times and a sudden change of plans.

Highlights

We enjoyed the return of beautiful weather and didn't waste a minute of it.

Tom went kayaking Monday morning while I took Aly to the beach. We enjoyed afternoon drinks with friends at Longboard. Aly joined us and was a very good girl. She hung out under the table trying to keep cool but enjoyed attention from friends and strangers. We enjoyed an evening of dinner and dancing with friends at Bar Louie. The colorful dance floor was mezzmerizing!

Tuesday was, perhaps, the warmest day of our trip. We started with our typical walk on the beach, pickleball, and gym then joined friends for a barbecue at the north beach. We ended the day with family. Tom's brother Troy and his wife Patti came down from Austin for a few days of fun in the sun. We met them for a beautiful sunset dinner at Louis Backyard after a quick visit to the Holiday Sand Sculpture Village.

On Wednesday, Troy and Patti joined us for entertaining games of pickleball. It was a heck of a workout for my cheeks... my mouth was sore from laughing so much! After a short walk along the beach, I ran off to the Beach Bodies workout. We reconnected with Troy and Patti for afternoon drinks at Laguna Bob, the Mexican buffet at Windjammers and drinks by the pool at Grand Isla Hotel.

Then, on Thursday, my vacation came to a screeching halt. I learned that my 87 year old mother, in Colorado, was on her way to the hospital for an unexpected surgery. I caught a flight, that evening, from Brownsville to Denver, via Houston. By the time I landed in Denver, Mom was out of surgery and doing great!

Challenges

I left South Padre with only a backpack and not knowing whether I'd return for the remainder of our trip.
