Traveling from Cascade to Buhl Idaho

After enjoying 5 days at the 2023 Northwest Truck Camper Rally, Tom and I started our journey home. We headed south on Highway 55 from Cascade, Idaho to Boise then east on Interstate 84 to Wendell. From there we took Highway 46 to the Holeinsky Vineyard in Buhl, Idaho.

Sights along the way

The weather was beautiful as we followed the Payette River. We saw many people white water rafting.

I noticed Tom was driving unusually fast on the windy mountain roads. I finally learned why!

We pulled out of our Cascade campsite at noon and only planned to drive 3.5 hours to our boondocking site at a winery. I didn’t know the tasting room closed at 4. Tom knew it and wasn’t going to risk being late!

Boondocking at Holeinsky Vineyard and Winery

We pulled into Holeinsky Vineyard and Winery in Buhl, Idaho at 3:28, much to Tom’s relief! He parked our camper in the beautiful boondocking site at the end of a dirt road and sprinted back up to the tasting room.

We ordered winetasting for two and a cheese plate. Within minutes of settling into our spot on the beautiful patio, we met Barbara, the proprietor's mother, and Susin and Clinton, fellow boondockers. Barbara was in no rush to go home and insisted we bring Aly to join us on the deck. It’s hard to say who had more fun… Tom and I with our new friends. Or, Aly with her new friends. We finally returned to our camper just before 10pm, full of wine, cheese and great memories!

We awoke to a beautiful sunrise over the vineyards, said goodbye to our new friends and hit the road.
