Camping at Dillon Reservoir

When we first decided to hike to Hanging Lake, we considered camping near the trailhead in Glenwood Canyon. There are several campgrounds along the Colorado River, which runs through the canyon. Instead, we chose to camp on the shores of Dillon Reservoir so we would have easy access for kayaking and fishing.

We stayed at Pine Cove Campground where we camped earlier this month. Campsites at Pine Cove are on a first-come basis and since we arrived mid-week (gotta love retirement), we managed to get a beautiful waterfront site. We enjoyed four beautiful days of camping, kayaking and fishing with our kids Lia and Charley, and grandson, Maddox. Somehow, we managed to fit 5 people in our truck/camper. Not comfortably, but sufficiently.
