Ridgeview Campground at Lake Cascade State Park

Tom and I enjoyed 2 nights camping at Ridgeview Campground in Lake Cascade State Park. Ridgeview is just one of many campgrounds in the state park which is located near the town of Cascade, Idaho.

Reservations

Ridgeview campground is open year around and no reservations are required during the off-season. Reservations are, however, required from just before Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend.

You can make reservations online at reserveamerica.com. The website enables you to specify your dates and other criteria. It displays available campsites matching your criteria for all the campgrounds in the park. If you’re interested in a specific campground, such as Ridgeview, you can expand the Advanced Options and select the campground from the Loop drop-down menu.

Campground Location

Ridgeview Campground is on the east side of the lake, just south of the dam. We chose Ridgeview because it’s the closest lakefront campground to downtown Cascade. It’s about a 10 minute walk to the nearest store or restaurant and you can walk across the entire town in 45 minutes.

Campground Amenities

Ridgeview Campground has very nice restroom and shower facilities. The showers are free with your campground registration. Or, for a small fee, any park visitors are welcome to use the showers.

Large garbage dumpsters are located near the restroom/shower building.

An RV dump station is located just a few minutes south of the Ridgeview Campground near the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Shore Drive.

Campsites

All the campsites in Ridgeview are beautiful and spacious. And the ones along the lakefront have spectacular views of the lake and sunsets.

Even some sites that aren’t lakefront, like ours, have partial views of the lake because they sit higher on the hill.

Each site in Ridgeview includes a large fire ring with a grilling grate, a picnic table, a sand tent pad, a fresh water connection and a 30 Amp electric connection. A few sites offer full hookups that include 50 Amp electric and sewer.

Pets

Pets are allowed in the campground and at the lake but must be on a leash at all times.

Lake access

The Ridgeview map indicates a single beach running the length of the campground. However, when we visited in June of 2023, after an extremely wet winter, the large beach was broken into several small beaches. Well worth the sacrifice for the beautifully full lake! Foot trails and paved paths provide easy access to the lake from any of the Ridgeview campsites.

There were many people with kayaks, boats, and various floating toys. Tom and I were disappointed to not have our kayaks but we'll be sure to bring them on our next visit. Tom did manage to get out on his float tube for some fly fishing. He caught several small mouth bass!
