Oregon to Idaho to Utah

Tom and I continued our journey east on Highway 20 across Eastern Oregon.

We passed many flooded pastures which were sometimes difficult to distinguish from the overflowing rivers and ponds.

Highway 20 merges with Highway 26 then intersects Highway 84 near Ontario, Oregon. It’s in this same area where the Snake River defines the border between Oregon and Idaho.

Hanigan Memorial Dog Park

We found a great dog park in Payette, Idaho across the Snake River from Ontario, Oregon. Hanigan Memorial Dog Park is very nice with plenty of room to run and a supply of dog toys to share.

Crossing from Oregon to Idaho

After enjoying a break at the Hanigan Dog Park, we crossed back into Oregon, briefly, to get back on Highway 84 before crossing into Idaho for good. As we drove across Idaho, we passed lush green farmland and crossed the Snake River multiple times.

Shoshone Falls Park

We stopped at Shoshone Falls Park in Twin Falls, Idaho, to take a break and enjoy the views as the Snake River flowed down the beautiful falls.

Crossing from Idaho to Utah

We crossed from Idaho into Utah with the sun shining on the Wasatch mountains ahead of us.

Boondocking at Brigham City Rest Area

After eight hours of driving, not counting our breaks, we were more than ready to stop for the night. The Brigham City Rest Area is a nice facility and the perfect location for us to get an early start driving through Salt Lake City the next morning.
